Initial Ideas

For our project we have decided to make a soap opera trailer. Soaps follow different conventions and ideas. These are some that we have thought of for our trailer:

• The front of a cafe in the opening shot.
• Gossip-interesting and catches the audiences attention, informs the audience of the situation.
• Controversial ideas e.g fire, homosexuality, teenage pregnancy, violence (weapons), divorce, religion, racism, sex and drugs. 
• Sensitive men - goes against the stereotype as women like sensitive men.
• Dominant women - go against the stereotype and the women who watch it can relate in some way to them.
• Ethnic diversity- shows a difference in culture and does not alienate the audience.
• Pub - meeting place for the characters.
• Potential names- Pendleside Close, Gatescott. 
• Mental/theoretical leash- shows control.
• Confessions- grabs the audiences to find out. 
• Multiple story lines - interests the audience, also allows different audiences to not be alienated.
• Diversity in youth cultures e.g chavs, emo, fresh 

These are the ideas that we have come up with so far. We intend to use the majority if not all of these ideas.
